Sistelo is a villa situated in North of Portugal, set in the foothills of the Peneda Geres National Park, on the left side of the river Vez. Sistelo is famous for its 'solcalcos', which arose by the need to increase the agricultural area and to counter the slopes. These structures allowed the development of subsistence agriculture of extremely importance for the survival of rural communities. You can see the 'espigueiros', a kind of granaries were built to dry the big corn crop which was introduced in the s. XVII. The two houses have been recently rebuilt, keeping the original trace, but with the comfort of our days, they are set in the middle of the village near the church.

- FOOTPATHS that lead to secular Brandas of Sistelo, ideal for lovers of the contact with nature and the mountain;- CASTLE SISTELO (civil architecture residential, eclectic), Fountain (infrastructural architecture, nineteenth century); Parish Church (religious architecture, and nineteenth-century vernacular), bridges (transport and communications architecture, eighteenth century).
